Setup steps

1. Download the latest stable version of Tunnelblick. It needs macOS 13 or later. For older versions of macOS, use a version from the deprecated downloads page.
2. Open the downloaded disk image and double-click the Tunnelblick icon to install it.
3. Drag macos.ovpn onto the Tunnelblick icon in the menu bar. When Tunnelblick asks whether to install the configuration for all users, click Only Me.
4. Click the Tunnelblick icon in the menu bar and choose Connect macos.
5. Enter your IIIT email address and password. Turn on both Save in Keychain boxes so that Tunnelblick does not ask again.

Check the connection

Turn on the VPN and open these sites. All three should load.

• mess.iiit.ac.in, which works only through the VPN
• iiit.ac.in
• duckduckgo.com

Troubleshooting

• Tunnelblick may show warnings while it connects. They do not stop the connection.
• If you changed your IIIT password, click the Tunnelblick icon and choose VPN Details. Select macos, click the gear button below the list, and choose Delete Configuration's Credentials in Keychain. Then connect again.
• The VPN does not connect on IIIT WiFi or LAN. Connect through another network, such as your mobile hotspot.
• If your password is rejected, check that the user name is your full IIIT email address.
• If the VPN worked before and has stopped, download the configuration again. Delete the old VPN connection and import the new file.
